wanted: 300+ watt amp

Looking for a two channel, 300watt+ amp for my JL 12W3, which is 4 ohms. If anyone has one for under $200 let me know!

Try to find something at e-bay. I am sure you will find something close to your expectations. Lot's of amps ( new / used ) over there.

Good luck !

if you want something for under $200 that is good. go to a stereo shop. Be careful buying used on ebay... I have a friend who has had numerous come into his shop with ebay stuff that was non functional.

Thanks for the headsup alon, always got a good headsup What amp do you think i should get? What are you using on your sub? I saw your setup, your porting is awesome, I wish i could do the same but i don't wanna cut my rear deck in the 500E, trying to keep it's value up.

Hey hedpe,

You might think that I also missed the "under $200" part, but for a little extra money you can get yourself a very good quality Autotek SS 400.2 amplifier like this one:

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/AUTSS4002

I have the Autotek SX-5750 ( 75 watts X 4 and 200 watts X 1 ) installed in my 300E and I am very pleased with it's overall performance. Specially how good the 200watts X 1 is feeding my 12" x 2 subwoofer enclosure.

I do not even need to make any port holes in order to get a very good bass.

Good luck !

I got mine as a gift. By no means anything really special. Its a DHD 450W x2, but at 14.4 volts it puts out that power. at 12 volts, its probably 200-300 watts. Hits my 10" Sub nicely though.

Cost at my low cost that I would get if I bought one from my friends shop, whould be probably $125.00 but I dunno if I can get them like that.

My friend also makes his own amps, so I can get great prices on his FURI Brand of amps, which are nice, but I have seen them catch on fire when abused with too much stress hehe.

He also manufactures a line of decent quality, low cost amps as well. I will be getting one of his 4 channel ones to drive my interior speakers. It should work fine for my purposes.

with 12's, porting is not necessary, especially wiht two....

I have a single 10" Circa 1996 Rockford fosgate Q series woofer in 8 ohm, in a box it was not designed for.

Ernesto, you would be shocked at the sound it makes, for a single 10!!!

I'm adding another 10" In the front passenger footwell. hehehe

Just for kicks.

Alon,

Your new project regarding the installation of an extra 10" sub in the front passenger footwell sounds really interesting.

I am sure that you're going to feel like "God's talking to you" with bass frequencies coming from there

How are you planning to fit the sub at that location ? Do you have any idea about how much space it is going to take from the footwell ?

Keep us posted please and good luck !

I havent even going into it yet, but it shouldn't be too hard. I expect to lose 2-3 inches of footwell space. I plan on mounting the sub on a board, and then putting it in place of that plastic cover thats already there. I will probably move the aftermarket alarm and the other unit to a different location too, to give the sub as much room as possible.

The sub would be mounted ont he back side of the board opening, with a grill on it to stop feet from going through it. floormat would be on top of it. I havent done any measurements or anything, but in order for the woofer to not fire out of phase with the other woofer. it will be on a seperate amp altogether.

I will do more investigating when I have the free time to do it.
