That's right - I want to buy the bracket that holds a Euro (21" wide) license plate frame to the front bumper of an early '70s MB. Mine is a '72 350SL, but I'd think the sedans would use the same part.
The bracket should be sort of "L" shaped when viewed from the side - the vertical part would be bolted to the back of the license plate frame and the horizontal part would be bolted to the bottom of the front bumper.
Don't need the license plate, don't need the license plate frame - just need the bracket. It seems as though the plate itself is not bolted to the bracket; the plate appears to just be held within the frame - only the bracket is bolted directly to the bumper.
As I've never seen one, getting a picture would also help - this picture is of the bracket for a US model:
