WTB: 89 300E misc parts...

- shocks and springs, oem or close aftermarket replacements (i.e. not lowering springs and sport shocks)

- exhaust pieces- any front, center, or rear sections, also consider 400E parts if they will fit.

asheville.
The car is my mother's old daily driver and I inherited it for whatever I want to do with it. It needs a few miscellaneous things, and I've really been trying to sell it. But if I keep it I want to take care of it. It's got 263,000 miles on it and I drive it every day, no worries. It's a sweet car, hate to see it waste away.

I don't want to spend lots on new stuff, Ithought if someone close by had parts I need that they want to get rid of cheapy I'd be willing to spend the money.

Someone off the board suggested just new shocks, no springs needed. What do you think about stock springs with 263K miles on them? Dead?

Cool Ok

Personally, I would keep it and see how long you could drive it as you maintain it. I have a local connection where I can get used parts at discounted rates. That's one reason I created a new Mercedes Car Club (http://www.mercedescarclub.org .....for MB owners to help one another, and to show their car off, such as improvements and the like.

I know I can get you all the parts you mentioned, plus more. I'm in the Raleigh area, and if you would like to make the drive sometime, you can always email me (or PM me) and we can make arrangements to get together.

Maybe you have some ideas about the car club that would prove to be beneficial. Hope all is well in the cold mountains! (it's 13 degrees here.....bbbrrrrrrrrr).

Question How does it ride?

How does the car ride? New shocks may be all you need. Springs shouldn't be bad, unless the car has been overloaded in the past...but you would know that.

I am with 87-300e-in-NC on this one!

Shocks is probably the thing you need. However, they are NOT cheap...

Car rides fine, sags when heavily loaded though (which isn't often at all, maybe once every 6 months). I guess new/used shocks are the way to go.

I'll check out the website and be in touch with a list of parts I may need. Thanks for the help.

ok here's what I need....

center muffler only, and a set of shocks would be nice, but only if they are super duper cheap (i.e. used) ones someone wants to ditch.
Midas is replacing the rear muffler free (b/c of their warranty on the lats one they sold us 100K miles ago), but they won't do that until the center is taken care of, for some odd reason. Anyway, if anyone has what I need for cheap or can point me to a good junk yard, please let me know! Thanks.
