Lorinser 16x8 ET11 on a 107

I bought a mint set with 22/50/16's. The rears bolted right up, the fronts hit the calipers. I am guessing I need about a 1/2 spacer and longer lug nuts....any thoughts?

I am most surprised by this, not that I don't believe you. That size and offset rim would normally be perfect for the 107, just as it should be on a 116, 123, 126 or most older models.

Do you have original brakes? Which 107 do you have? Out of curisoity, I would love to see a photo of the inside of your wheel.

Weird huh?

I have a 87 560sl and brakes are stock. The rears fit perfect, the fronts I am putting 1/2" spacers on so I clear the calipers. Tire size is 225/50/16 so at least they are shorter than the 205/65/15's so I should not rub up front.

I'm running 8x16 et11 Lorinsers on my 82 380sl with no rubbing. However, it is my understanding that the front caliper setup on the 560sl is a bit different than all the other 107 models. I've been told that fitments for all the other 107's will not clear the calipers on the 560. Call Luke at the tire rack, and he can set you straight. Hope that helps, and sorry you're having problems.

Spacers are sick-eagle ( ill-egal) in Australia, not sure about US. The logic is the rim centre is the load bearing area of your wheel. Your lug bolts just hold it in place. Your front sub axle takes the load and forces placed on the wheel/tyre assembly. Spacers defeat this and place the load on your wheel studs instead. If in the event of a wheel let-go, I'd say your insurance company will wipe you like a dirty rag. But this is in Oz and we are about 10 years behind the US!
