hopefully I won't have too may problems will I?

crap!

I got a decent deal on some of the factory polished wheels from a 99 clk320. they look like they are going to look nice on my car but I miss-read my original offset before buying these. for some reason i was thinking my factory wheels on my W124 300D were 6JX15 ET 39 but they are ET49 and these wheels I just bought are 7JX16 ET 37. that seems like a huge difference.
So I guess my question before i go and have some 205/55/16s put on these wheels will they fit with out modification? also where could i get lug nuts that will work with these wheels? my exisitng are too long.

Thanks

Jeff

You will love the wider stance. The lower offset gives the appearance of having a wider tire, since it moves the wheel and tire closer to the fender. They will fit great. You will have no problems with rubbing. I have 16” x 7.5” ET37 with 205/55/16 and I absolutely love the wider stance. I wish I could get even wider 225/50/16 tires, but they would rub on my car, unless I installed the AMG fender spacer kit. The 215/55/16 is too tall, so it would also rub on my car. You might be able to fit one of the wider tires, since you only have 7” wide rims, but I don’t know if 225 might be a little pinched on a relatively narrow 7” rim. I know some guys think 205 width is too stretched on a 7.5” rim, but they will be perfect on your 7” wide rim.

I use my very nice OEM Special Edition wheels for winter, but I hate how they are tucked way under the car, now that I have seen how great it looks with a lower offset.

I am sorry, but I can’t help you with the lug nut question. Do you already know that your OEM lugs will not work? I used my OEM lugs when I switched to my 16” x 7.5” ET37 AMG wheels.

yes i put a wheel on the car just to see how it looks and when i tried the OEM lugnuts when they were tight, they were about 2 mm from the wheel.

I know others have done what you are doing, so I am sure it is possible to find the shorter lugs. This may be too obvious, so you may have already tried it. What about the lugs from the CLK?

This guy has C-Class wheels, so maybe he knows.

7J15 ET37 wheels from a CLK will fit the 124 chassis just fine, I am using CLK wheels with 205/55/16 tires on a '87 300D. Speedo error is zilch.

The lug bolts are however a special factory item, not shown as std in the parts drawings, at least I verified that as I watched the counter person order them. I didn't keep the part number unfortunately so I can't help you right off but tell them its for the optional wheels, and they can verify that the lugs are only about 1 inch long making them the shortest lug bolts available for Mercedes wheels AFAIK.

Mercedes lugs that came with the wheels had polished stainless steel caps on them for appearance but these have been discontinued. (I have a set and can post a pic if you want to see what I am describing). You can buy plastic covers that are chromed and slide over the lug bolts if that looks good to you.

see my post, the first set of CLK lugs I ordered were too long, they had to look for the shorter onoes as I guess CLK wheels came in two styles and used different lug bolts
