220d stock tire size
Can someone with a 220d owner's manual tell me the stock tire size for the car (1969 and 1973)? I think it may be 175/70/14 (from my searches which weren't totally conclusive). This would mean I should have a ~5% spedo/odometer error with the 185/75/14 tires I currently have on the car (according to http://www.csgnetwork.com/speedocalibcalc.html).
I'm trying to compute my mileage accurately and haven't had a chance to find a long stretch of road for calibrating the odometer. It sure seems like my spedo is reading low but I can't tell if this is a psychological effect of the higher road noise/rmp compared to my 300d...

The original tire size for the stroke 8's (W114/W115s) was 185HR14. They're no longer manufactured, the closest you can find are 185/80R14. With your current tires you're reading about 1.7mph below your actual speed, that if if your speedometer is still calibrated correctly. 185/80R14s are hard to find. Some people just use 195/75R14s instead.

according to my owner's manual the original tire size for the W115 240 D is 175 SR 14, for the 300 D it is 185 HR 14 (which are currently on mine). Since they are hard to find I'll probably change to 195s soon.

that is what i remembered
175 for the 240 and 220. when it says just 175r14 or 185r 14 it is an 85% aspect ratio understood.
