Color Code for aluminum rims is DuPont G8081

If you are wanting to paint your bundt rims and want the exact color match for the original -

In the DuPont paint line the color code is G8081

It looks great! I will try to post pictures later.
I had mine bead blasted, primed and painted for $200. for all four rims.

Sounds great. I might just have to try that if I can get ahold of some paint over my spring break. I'm going to be painting the car then as well so it would be a good time.

Thank you

That's great info to have...at the shop where I work we have been experimenting with finishes on wheels...good old 744 silver is one we've used successfully on sets of 4, not just on Mbz, but on some BMW's and other brands. The tiny metal flake in 744 and other German colors just looks better on wheels than the large flakes in domestic color formulas. Trying to duplicate the "shadow chrome" finish on some newer wheels is another can of worms altogether...this is the dark chrome on BMW M3's and lots of new Infiniti's.

744 is the color code for the "standard" Mbz silver color, although there are perhaps 5 other Mbz colors that are very close in shade. Any body shop can mix it, no matter what brand of paint they shoot. The shop where I work uses 2 brands: Akzo-Nobel's Sikkens, and Standox. The 2 brands behave very similarly when applied, and the results are great either way.

I'm guessing this is paint for a sprayer, and not a can of spray-paint?

Is this product available on-line?

Thanks for the tip - I have some "project" wheels to do this summer.

This weekend I aerosol sprayed my beat up bundts with Wurth Metallic Silver Lacquer #0892181 & topped with Wurth Clear (1 can of each per 2 wheels). I won't win a concours, but they look good to me on a driver. I had the tires removed from the wheels before spraying.

In fact, they looked so much better than I expected that I wish I spent a little more time prepping the wheels before spraying. I didn't bother because my expectations were a lot lower than the resulting finish.

You can also just deflate the tires and break the beads...just re-inflate them after the paint dries so you don't have to scrape up the rims reinstalling the tires.
