18" Wheels

Hi. I`m the proud new owner of my first MB a 1997 SL500. Would like to replace existing 16" wheels that I believe were/are standard (though they are chrome)with 18" chrome. I like the 5 spoke wheels I see on many 500`s. I know little to nothing about cars/tires. Reccomendations/suggestions are much appreciated.

have you tried logging in to TireRack and keying in your car specs and seeing
what they offer? they have nice morphing aid. ton of other wheel places
around. get ahold of AUTOMOBILES or EUROPEAN CAR magazines and cruise
through the ads.

heck, when it comes to rims, it's like buying underwear. we really cant pick them
for you. you need to view them and through big process of elimination might
you arrive at a handful you want. then, you weigh that against your wallet,
what's available....what's availabe which is appropriate for your car, and how
much of a hurry you are to get new rims.

Try to get the lightest 18" wheel you can afford. Adding an extra 15-20 pounds per corner of the car can slow the car down (corners and in a straight line) and hurts the ride.
