?Wheel choice on a '91 300E?

I have just purchased a '91 300E (my first car!) and would like to customize it with some new wheels. As I have have come to find out this is not as easy as I thought.Especially because it is tough to find any sort of comprehensive listings with pictures matched to specific cars.

Does anyone have any advice considering this body (124) style?I understand this comes down to personal choice but there must also be some sort of unwritten rule to go by, in matching wheels to specific cars.I am open to all opinions!!!

Also, am I going to feel a big difference in ride between '16in and '17in rims?Meaning will it be considerably rougher? What would be the difference in handling?

Thanx

If you want to avoid ruining the ride, whatever you end up doing be sure to run touring-oriented tires. If you go to a Z-rated performance tire, the dramatically increased responsiveness will not work in concert nor harmony with your other suspension components.

I recommend no more than a +1 upgrade; if you go to 17s the ride will be too firm and busy IMHO. I did a +1 on both my '88 TE and my '92 300D, with excellent results. This was not the case with my wagon originally, as I'd opted for hi-performance rubber. Switched to a touring tire, and everything's fine now

Do not know where you as that might impact on how many sets of tires/wheels you use.

If you do have a winter, two sets of wheels/tires are the way to go. One set of V-rated and the other snow. I believe V-rated tires are the recommended ones for your car in the summer.

If you do not really have a winter (light snow once or twice a year, like Hotlanta, LOL), then some M+S H-rated tires might be good compromise.

If you still have the original 15-hole wheels, then some replica 8-hole or AMG look alike are good ones to get.
