new tires for 1994 c280
Currently have Mich MXV's 195/65 R15's and I didn't rotate enough, so I've got the "whump-whump" that others have posted about.
Not a real big deal since I'm ready for a new set. My brother is recommending some Cooper tires, but I've been looking at TireRack and would like a good set of quiet tires and have seen Luke recommend some Bridge Revo's. I drive at least 1,100 miles/month, sometimes more. We get a lot of wet weather here in NW Arkansas during the Spring/Summer/Fall, not much snow/ice, but it does happen, so wet weather traction would be nice. Luke, any recommendations? Anyone else? Should I stick with the same size? Thanks. |

Try the Yokohama AVS Db -- V-rated and very inexpensive, as well as quiet

I say 205/60/15s, and Dunlop SP Sport A2, just don't see using anything more performance bias on 60 aspect ration 15s, that will make much difference. I say save the money, get long life, and great traction. Mileage is a key, so this sounds right.

As quoted above man I luv these paws! Sears did a price match, (92.00 originally) to $66 each. They are quiet, sticky and great rain surface adhesion. I had the Good Year Eagle II and my best guess is that they were the originals, they had gotten loud, slipped and spun out easy and would not hold the tier pressure at all over a week period all at the 54k distance. So, I'm happy they look a tad aggressive and give the car a nice look. Now if the weather warms up here in south texas then the next step is the ZAINO Bro. treatment!!! later........... |

That looks like the tire I'm going to get. I read all the reviews on TireRack for this tire and it's getting better ratings than the Michelins.
Question: Why the 205/60's? I've seen this size recommended in the forum for a lot of folks that currently have the 195/65 tire. Does it change the ride much? Quieter, smoother or louder, and more rough? Better handling? I like to stick to factory when I can and not goof up anything on the car that wasn't meant to be. But, if there are not problems with changing the size and if it actually improves certain aspect of the cars ride and performance, it would be worth considering. And, you said Sear's did a price match for you? Did you take a printed price from the internet, TireRack for instance, or did you just tell them what you could get them for someplace else? Thanks. Nice pics of the car, too. Daniel 1994 C280 125k miles |
