Hi,
I have a stock 16" SLK wheels on a 95 C280 (wow the car looks a lot better) wearing worn out Falken Ziex 502 tires. It has 205/55 up front and 225/50 in the rear. I know I need new tires on all four corners, but keeping in mind I intend to install an H&R lowering spring set and Bilstein sport shocks, I want the right tire size on there which won't cause problems with the lowering. Should I replace the tires with new ones of whats on there (The tread on the Falkens looks pretty cool- even though its gone). Are Falkens good tires? I've never heard of them. I don't want to spend $120 a tire for Michelin or Pirelli's when there almost as good substitutes. Also, does anyone know a good place in the Dallas area to get tires installed? Just one last thing - I wanted to get an ultra high performance tire that allows me takes turns well, but wears well and is economical. I suppose I'm looking for a balance. Thanks, Troy |

Don't screw around with tires. Get the best. If you are driving a Benz with all those options on it, the money can't be that big of an issue. Get the Michelin Pilot Sports. They are a fortune, but you won't be disappointed. The saying "you get what you pay for" is ever so true in regard to tires. If it's cheap, there's a reason.

You will not be disappointed by the Mich Pilot Sports or the Bridgestone S02 PP's. Those two are probably the best handling tires out there now. Haven't driven the new PZero Rosso yet though... For more of a pricepoint option try the Yoko AVS Sport or the RE930.
In any case, you can run C36 sizes if your fenders are rolled. Hope this helps...Lee |

Try giving the Tire Rack a call. I have Dunlop SP-8000's on my 16 valve on 17x7.5 AMG wheels and absolutely love them. They are a discontinued tire but yout tire size might me still available.

I would suggest a Maximum performance tire. The Bridgestone S-02 Pole Position or the Pilot sport would be excellent choices but, if you want something a little more cost effective look at the Dunlop SP Sport 9000.
Believe it or not in the the Ultra High Performance catagory the Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP is a great tire for that classification and has a 340 treadwear rating and does rate at least a look.
