The place to begin in answering your question is with one of your original wheels, perhaps the spare. What is the original ET (the amount of offset of the rim centerline inboard of the hub mounting flange)? If within +/- 4mm of the proposed new wheel ET then there should not be a clearance problem.

I'd guess the original is around 48-49mm offset.
That's what earlier W124s used for the flat face. The tire is stock, so that's a plus. I've had 15" Penta's on mine which had a 25mm offset, and it worked (same size tires). The 25mm offset looks best on the older cars with bundt wheels as std/avail equipment.\, so they kinda stuck out on the 86 300E. Jim
