MXV4s, Left front is wearing more on the outer edge....
I have a 300D with 4 MXV4s.... The driver's front tire is showing slightly more outer edge wear than the right. I do have a worn steering box, causing vague steering, but can this cause tire wear? I also do a lot of merging on and off highways, more times than most a right hand turn... Can this cause the outer left to wear more? Thanks in advance.....

providing your alignment is 'ok' your typical driving habits can easily cause this type of tread wear and is the reason tire rotation is so important

Luke, thanks so much for the insight. I do live near a highway, every were I go I'm merging right and exiting right. So, the left side will suffer. I just am really cautious of tires, I like to get the right wear out of them.

I think incorrect air pressure would create more of a wear problem, than "merging" highway driving. A worn "rack" or power steering unit, can have an affect on your alignment settings. If you are experiencing just outer wear on one tire, my bet is your "toe" or "camber" setting for that side may be off. Check alignment, and rotate every 5K
