Tire size

hey guys, I am looking for tires for my new rims. They are 20x8.5. I am wondering what kind oof width would be the best. There are quite a few choices on Tirerack. They have 275 and 265. There is also 40 or 45 that i could go with. I am driving a ML320. Any comments or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

you can use any of these sizes

265/50-20
295/40-20
295/45-20

with 20's on an ML320 but, the 8.5" wheel width 265/50-20 wouldbe the size to use

265/45/20

I think Pirelli has a 265/45/20 that is reinforced with a load rating of 108v. Its closest to matching your overal diameter while not being as wide as the 295s so they fit your skinnier 20x8.5s

I know that load carrying capacity is sufficient enough because even the newer ML350s come with 255/60/17 and have Continental 4x4 Contacts which have a load rating of 106h.

So safety wise your fine too. I'd recommend that, but ask Luke to see if he agrees.

while not a perfect size, you could use the 275/45-20
