CLK lug bolt size, 400E lug bolt size

Today I decided to see if the aluminum CLK rims would fit on my 400E (clear the brake calipers) and they did. The only problem is that my 400E lug bolts are two long.

The bolt has about 1/2" of space between the head and the threads, which is because the 400E rim has the 1/2" space in the rim. The CLK rims have maybe 1/8" of space in the rims so I think that the CLK bolts are shorter and the threads go all the way to the head, anyone know for sure?
