automatic trans from 240d

This is a transmission I took from a 240d which I installed a motor and stick tranny in. I am fairly certain that this tranny came from my 74 240d which my lovely daughter #3 put gasoline in and ruined the motor and I can say with certainty that it was a good shifting tranny.

I offer it for $200 and will offer the same guarantee a salvage yard would offer. It is believed to be good. If it does not run and shift correctly after installation with proper fluid I will return your money upon return of the tranny.

#R1152714201 this number is cast into the side of the main body. The other number on the right side above the pan is 115 270 1201 008808.

The part number you've posted in post #3 should stop at

115 270 12 01 as far as I can make out. If you keep on going - reading along that edge just above the oil pan (on the casting) you should eventually see 722 XXX for a car of that age. Read left or right from the number you've got.

There are no other numbers on that edge of the tranny.

Nightmare - to the best of my knowledge they are all along the edge as shown in the picture below



The only other way that might help is to get the part number of the valve body - perhaps I can trace it that way for you...

...does this transmission have a pressure modulating connection to the throttle linkage? Or is it one of those rarer vacuum only set ups?

I don't know the answer to your question but I am coming to the conclusion that this is the tranny from the 74 240d.

My numbers are just like the ones in the picture but no 700 numbers are off to the right.

What are the numbers stamped on your tranny in the picture. I see the valve body number starts with a 123.

My numbers start with a 123... sorry I can't read them all in the picture... but there is eventually a 722.118


For your W115 I think you should have a 722.108 - if you can find that number somewhere anywhere then I reckon you've got the right one for that car.

I don't have access to the real EPC - I've been using the stripped down Russian one via EverythingBenz - Mercedes-Benz Forum and Web Search Using Google - but perhaps someone with EPC access can tell you more?
