1989 W124 300E parting

1989 300E white with blue interior. body and interior VGC. Engine has no compression #3 cylinder, all others 145-150 psi. mileage unknown. Odo stopped at 117K but unknown how long ago. Car runs and drives very well, transmission shifts perfect, brakes are perfect, has good oil pressure, no warning lights, cruise works well.

Everything works very well except the following:
heater valve stuck on hot.
blower resistor dead, blower works
right rear window inop, not sure if its a switch or something in regulator.

Contact for any parts wanted, make offers or contact with any questions. reasonable prices and ill beat any price I can verify.. Located Rogers Arkansas

Its not going to work for me to part this car out if there isnt much interest. If anyone is interested I would sell the whole car for $900 and take a loss. Otherwise I might take a few choice pieces off it and run the remainder across the scale.

Yeah maybe. But I didnt get this far in life without being a masochist either. I'm debating pulling the head just to see whats up. Its just a bunch of bolts.

I think I'd at least have to pull the head before I'd junk it, if it were me. Really nothing to lose.

I know I'm weird, but I'd rather you save the car than sell me a part, if the car is saveable.

Not weird at all, I have often felt the same way about a few cars. My Dad never owned a Mercedes, I was the pathfinder of the family in that regard. But he test drove a 190D back in around 1960. One thing the salesman told him is that they wernt a rich mans car, just the opposite. A car you could run a lifetime. Deep down he said he knew the guy was telling the truth, but just couldnt find the faith to buy into it.

I pulled a 79 300D out of a guys back yard back in 1991 and resurrected it, and my Dad fell in love with it. Through good times and bad, this in the 9th one ive owned, and only the third gas burner. We bought an 88 300E back in 97, and it was easily the nicest cars ive ever owned, as well as the nicest Mercedes ive ever owned, second to a 300SD and a 380SL. The SL was nice, but the seats sucked and it sucked gas. The SD was nice, but it was worn out and I just ran out of money and patience to keep feeding it. I couldnt figure out why a car with only 145K needed so much, until I read a car fax and realized it probably had over 700K on it.

Times arent as good for us today as yesterday, but I still dont feel like driving junk. Rich or poor, its hard to beat a good running Benz. If this only needs a piston and I can get it going cheap, were going to drive the wheels off it.

Update.

Several of you have inquired about parts while I figured out what im going to do. I have decided to sell the car whole in running condition, even if it goes to a salvage yard and even if I take a loss. I lowered the price on CL to $800, $200 less than I paid for it, and have a standing offer at a salvage yard in town for $600. I'm going to wait until noon tomorrow and if its still here, I'm going to drive it into town looking for a better offer, but regardless, its not coming home. I know this sucks but I have bills that are due and it is what it is. You have no clue how much this all pains me but thats where things are.

Here is the current ad:1989 Mercedes 300E for parts or whole

If anyone has a real interest I would let it go for $700. No paypal, you will have to wire funds western union and it has to be tomorrow, 1/2/13. You can pick up the car anytime (within reason), and it would likely drive as far as you need it to go, but of course, no guarantees on that. Feel free to contact me with any questions, phone numbers in the ad. I apologize to those looking for parts, I really am sorry.
