Tune-Up Tips for ML320

Hello, my sister has a 1999 ML320 with 72,000mi. The car has been virtually unserviced (aside from Oil changes and brakes). She would like to keep the car for sometime. What services would you recommend, aside from the Harmonic balancer?

Definitely get the fuel filter/pressure regulator upgrade done. The design changed quite a bit (incl. hoses), and may prevent a fuel pump failure down the road (don't ask how I know).

You may need a new Air Mass Sensor ($$$), but not until it goes out. You will know when the time comes, because performance suffers dramatically...feels like you are towing the Queen Mary!

There is an upgraded harness for the A/C aux fans that is heavier than the old one. The anemic original harness wasn't up to the task, and would blow fuses.

Other than that, there are some factory issues that may need to be addressed...I'm surprised that the ML hasn't had anything done other than routine service, as a lot of the issues cropped up during the warranty period.

Do you have a service sheet for any other model?
