OBD to laptop

He claims it has both cables and works with XP. Looks like something I would like to have so I could program my own keys, etc.

I wonder if there is anyone in US offering the same package so as to save shipping.

You need Carsoft software to use these interface cables. It was over $2000 back in 2002.

For simply checking trouble codes, you may want to give OBD-2 software a try. Works for me . However for transmission, transfer case, froglights, etc. you're still at the mercy of your dealer. The Carsoft software is comprehensive, but expensive and I think they don't like to sell to DIY'ers .

Good luck!

I recently got a Actron CP9135 to read codes and erase them. Works fine and was only $149. Seems to be a DIY'er these days it would be a requirement.

OBD II for Mercedes (& other cars)

I purchased the kit from Digimoto - comes with software, cables and interface. It runs on PC and on Pocket PC. I have not used it much, but it seems to work fine.

Digimoto have a website (use google to find) but also sell directly on eBay usually at a lower price. (~$99.00 for everything)
