ml320 no start

have an 98 ml320, no start , no crank.
when frist turning key makes click noise , then loses
signal to starter relay. can jump power to starter relay
and will crank but not start.dont have an mb dealer within 300
miles .please help

Sounds like the ignition switch (electrical part)

tested ignition switch, tests ok.
not losing start signal or run signal at switch.
still searching. ty.

Try removing and cleaning every ground connection you can find, you will need to remove front inner plastic wheel covers to gain access to a few grounds.
These early MLs were notorious for bad grounds.

Unhappy still no start

checked all grounds could find . still no change?

This will sound weird: Try jumping power to the relay first, then turn the key in the ignition, which will authorize DAS, see if it takes off running then. If this works, I would guess it's the fuse and relay panel, that's the part the fuses and relays actually plug in to. It wouldn't be the first bad one I've seen causing various electrical gremlins on an ML. You will need to transfer the AAM over to the new fuse panel, but it can be done without the aid of a dealer or special equipment.
