G Wagen steering Knuckle Question
How much grease leakage from the steering knuckle is normal (large ball beside the hub)? Mine 02 G500 has several ounces of dirty grease outside of the ball. 12k miles.

There is a fill hole on the rear side of the hub. Your service center should keep the grease filled to the bottom edge of the fill hole; i.e. half full or axle shaft level. More than that puts excessive pressure on the CV joint boot and the axle shaft seal.

Someone either tried to fill the swivel ball housing with gear oil instead of grease or you are leaking gear oil past the axle tube seal. Checking the oil level in your differential housing will give you an indication. It should come up to the bottom of the fill plug. If it's low, you're leaking past your axle seal.
