sea salt air and ml350 brakes

This is my second ML350. I have had to replace the rotors, calipers etc on both cars... they are parked near the ocean, but are driven once or twice per week. The tech told me that the metal used in the brakes of Mercedes is "softer" and prone to corrosion. (I have had some other issues... with the anti lock brakes..the tech claims aren't related. )
My car is two years old, has 4700 miles. I understand the salt is by nature corrosive... but so is Chicago driving (salt,snow...)
Is this a problem others have dealt with? It is expensive to have your brakes replaced... not to mention the concern of possible failure due to the corrosion/ weak metal??
