ETS Light on
I have a 1998 ML320 with 82000 miles on it and suddenly the ETS light is on. It drives fine but won't shift to low range. Looking for suggestions to a quick and "cheap self fix". I just fixed center console switch problems myself. Wondering if this may have created the ETS warning? Should I drive it? I am trying to stay out of the dealership as I have spent a jillion dollars on maintenance out of warranty. Suggestions?

Seriously, how much have you spent off warranty? Make me feel good. I bought an extended warranty for $4k that goes to 4 years or 48k miles more. I've got another 2 years left on it and they have covered $2k worth of repairs.

Keep hoping it breaks?
I guess you will keep hoping it breaks enough to feel good about spending what so far is $2K too much? Keep an eye on your $1,000.00 fuel pump 2 years and one month from now. I have replace two of them alone...
