Question on ML55

I have a 2000 ML55-AMG, with 98K miles.
My driver side catalytic convertor is rattling, looks like the inside of it
the honeycomb is broken. Just annoying rattle. There are no emmission
issues where I live.
Anyhow, does anyone know of an after market catalytic convertor?
Also, does MB warrant emmission for 8 yrs? was wondering if this broken
convertor would be covered if there would be emmission problems?
Thanks
Barry

Barry, as far as I know the emission equipment warranty is 8 years/80,000 miles ... whichever comes first. So you're well beyond that. Sorry.

same thing with my 02 ML.
out of warranty, but I tried to contact local aftermarket places and they sell for way less than the $1800 the dealer wants for it.
Or you can have an aftermarket cat welded between the original pipes that are there.
let us know how it works out.
good luck

Is his ML covered by the current round of recalls for cat replacement? I thought it applied to all 99 - 0? m112 and m113 vehicles but could be wrong.

Don't feel too bad

It only happened to just about everyone (bad weld seams on the cat housing were the reason for the recall).

The "cats" on the ML55 were NOT covered by the service campaign!
