1998 ML320 does not start.
After no usage for a couple months, the ML320 will not start.
With a charged battery, it starts and runs for about ten seconds and then dies from what appears to be fuel starvation. No warning light or codes retrieved. I cleaned the air mass sensor with a special spray and still the same. I also added 5 gallons of fresh fuel, no positive results. If I spray starting fuel down the air intake, it keeps running. I would appreciate guidance on how to proceed. Thanks |

Do you know if the fuel pump is original?
They go bad all the time, put a fuel pressure guage on it and see what happens. Running the car low on fuel will kill a weak/old fuel pump. The indy repair shops around here keep one in stock, if that tells you anything about the frequency of failiure. There should be schrader valve where you can attach a guage. Be careful with the starting fluid, I blew up a company car(Toyota) once with that stuff, it causes detonation and can put a hole in a piston easily.
