722.6 transmission leak
i noticed today that the transmission is leaking around the data plug , may have lost 1 onces of fliud over a month time ,need advice on how to fix it.

Very common simple repair....part is $7. MB number 203-540-02-53...was 203-540-01-53.
Requires a 7MM socket & ratchet.

when i remove the data plug do i lose a lot of ATF ?

None. It's on top of the transmission.
Note form another forum. Shop owner says the spacer is on national backorder. Hopefully the o-rings are available as that's all you really need. Steve |

thanks to all the leak is fixed , i replaced 2 white O rings that i bought from the dealer for $8.50 .

If you are going to the trouble of crawling under there, it would be smart to first buy the O rings, and do it pre-emptively.
Where is it? Easy. Find the wiring at the point where it enters the transmission at the front on top. 7mm bolt and pull it out the plastic spacer. Replace the rings , push it back in and replace the bolt. Smart to clean the dirt and gunk from the area before removal. Steve |
