The 722.9 transmission is adapted with SDS connected, on a straight, flat stretch of road. I suppose it can be done on a dyno, though.

Not many, if any, of the former in metro Atlanta.

Which, when coupled with the fact that the dealer that did the work has a reputation for not having good technicians ( I found out after the fact.), probably explains why the transmission acted like they had not done or did a half-way job of an adaptation on it after they did whatever work they did.

It seems to have smoothed out at lot; although I do get the occasional hard 3->2 or 2->1 shift, especially when it's very hot and I'm creeping along in heavy traffic.

Reply by PM. No need to publicly put them down by name.

Reason I'm asking is, I just went over 10K....
I'm right at 10K mi. Just did my first oil change (ELF Solaris LSX 5W30 - 8.5L) Couldn't find -anywhere (including the dealer)- the required fleece oil filter so I put in a paper filter (Mann)

Are you having any shifting issues such as slightly delayed upshifts, hard downshifts, etc?

No real tranny problems yet. (Knocking on wood.) It doesn't downshift quite as quickly as I would want, but it hasn't gotten worse since I bought my R.

I had the local dealer do my first oil change around 6 or 7 K miles. Not sure what kind of filter the dealer used. I will say that 13K interval they recommend just seemed to be a bit long for a car I plan to keep forever....

According to all the information I have the 13K change interval applies ONLY to the gassers, NOT the diesels. Diesels are 10K service interval using full synthetic oils meeting M-B spec 229.51. Very easy for the dealer to screw this up, especially if they are not used to servicing many diesels- and they won't be until M-B sells a lot more.

I stayed away from the dealer because the parts guy at the dealer I bought the car from gave me a COMPLETELY WRONG part number for the oil filter when I asked. Who knows what they would have done if I wasn't even allowed to watch!

The Parts Department at one of the Atlanta dealers did not even know about or stock the 229.51 oil for the 320CDI. He then quoted way over MB List price for both the oil and the filter.

Obviously, I won't shop there.

You are correct. When you reset the Service reminder on the ML320CDI, it only resets to 10,000 miles.

Yes, & there are only 3 brands of oil that meet the 229.51 on the USA list.

The engines leave the factory with Fuchs brand oil. They are just starting to distribute here & aren't on the USA list but are on the European list.

So I've noticed harder upshifts and a very slowwwwwwww WOT downshift at low speeds on my "new to me" 06 C350 with the 722.9. I was going to ask about software updates, but now I'm not sure this is a good idea. Anyone else here had updates performed with good results?
