ML blowing smoke

it's blowing white smoke out exhaust- car will start but can't be moved... new radiator put on yesterday! ran fine last night, but with occassional sputtering, then this morning- wouldn't even turn over!!!

what kind of costs on cylinder head, gasket tpe repairs?

I'd start with a compression test. You might even figure is 1 or both hears need to come off.
Replacement of both head gaskets takes about 15 hrs.

thanks- wondering how much for these things? one guy wants to pull of the engine top, the other guy wants to do acompression test on it- i'm smelling coolant in the exhaust, adn the car cannot be moved...

also, how "tough" are these engines?- can it withstand running a little hot for a period of time? ( while i was waiting to get the radiator fixed) - jsut wondering the parameters of this repair....
