2002 ML55 OK for towing?
A friend is buying one and wants to tow snowmobiles up near Canada...I think he's nuts and will ruin the tranny/vehicle.
Anybody have problems with using this SUV as a tow vehicle? TIA ![]() |

The ML is rated for towing at APPROX 5000 lbs..
I'd say that 3500 is closer to reality. Any time a vehicle is used for towing the fluids should be changer more frequently.

He will be fine. A 2 place snowmobile trailer with sleds is less than 2000#. These trucks are actually great for towing, as they are good ol' body on frame. I would not use it to haul a car trailer thousands of miles, but something light like that is fine on the trans and other "delicate" parts.

Thanks ! Good news to hear...he's getting it regardless.
His first MB actually...though I'm quite sure he'll ruin it still ! LOL |
