Squeeking noise when steering wheel is turned
Hi guys. This is my 1st post here. Looks like a great forum for Mercedes-Benz owners.
Here's my question: On my wife's 2004 Mercedes ML350, there is an annoying 'squeeking' sound when the steering wheel is turned. It only happens when the car is running and at operating temperature, never when you first crank it up. It sounds like 2 pieces of some type of rubber or plastic rubbing together. It takes around 5 minutes for this sounds to start. The sound appears to be coming from right around the steering wheel/dash area. It is NOT a power steering pump issue; I know all too well what that sounds/feels like. The sound has been present since we purchased the Mercedes this past summer. So, do any of you guys have any idea what this noise could be? Possible solution(s)? Thanks in advance. |

A very common noise like that comes from the rubber grommet where the steering shaft goes thru the floor, lubrication of that grommet would be a starting point.

I have exactly the same problem with my 2000 E320. Please let me know how you fixed your problem. It's been very annoying and been there for over 3 months and no going anywhere.

I might have this problem as well...seems to make a moaning noise when steering in warmer weather like 70F'ish. Dealer diagnosed it as the same thing but would charge $150 to grease it |
