Please confirm two thing on a 2000 ML 320.

Pleae confirm or deny the following:

1. There is a drain plug at the torque converter or a 2000 ML 320.

2. The torque converter can be rotated with the engin off, with the wheel on the ground by turning the crankshaft pully using a long wrench.

thanks

follow up question:

If there is not drain plug in the torque converter in a 2000 ML 320. Then when you change the tranny oil how do you get all the oil out from the torque converter?

Or you just don't. .

here is the questions then.

1. If you want to change the old yourself and don't have a flushing machine what is recommended that you do?

2. If you take it to the dealer to change the tranny oil will they use a flushing machine??

3. How critical it is not to change the oil in the torque converter??

Condition of fluid would be the only consideration.

If the fluid looks good then why change it OR worry about it?

SOME larger dealers have flushing equipment.

You can leave a line loose on the cooler & keep pouring $15(liter) fluid thru it.

It's not "critical" in the slightest to not change the oil in the torque converter.

The only folks that believe that are those still making payments on flushing equipment.

Just want everyone to know change my tranny oil two weeks ago.

Just want everyone to know change my tranny oil two weeks ago.

Also just to confirm 100%.

1. There is no drain plug in my 2000 ML built in May. Eventhough 1800 mercedes said there is one on my ml. I turned the torque conver around twice.

2. You can turn the torque converter at the crank shaft clockwise with a 1/2 regular socket wrench in park with all 4 weeks on the ground. But why when there is no torque conver drain plug.

Other notes:

Tranny oil still red after 45K. But this is from easy freeway driving to and from Lake Tahoe to the Bay Area.

Took me 1/2 day. But I change the engin coolant also. But an easy job. I think next time I can it in the time it takes to do a regular oil change.
