How to change blower vent bulbs ?

Drove the ml tonight for the first time in almost 3 x mths.

For some reason all the a.c vent little marker lights ARE OUT.

All the way across LEFT TO RIGHT. Driver vent, middle vents, pass vent.

Anyone know how to access the central bulb that feeds the
vents light, or is it 1 per.

All were working fine when i parked the truck in july. Though
when i got into the truck it was pretty humid from all the rain
here while i was away. < SO HUMID A POWERY MILDEW WAS ON THE SEATS. CAR WASH TOOK CARE OF THAT
BUT NEED TO GET SOME WD40 GOING ON THE SUNROOF RAIL ETC. >

If there is a link or a quick instruction please let me know.

** Also how can i pull out the cabin air filter.??

Thanks

WD40 will clean, but it won't lubricate. MB uses a silicone paste lube there.

How to r/r the cabin air filter probably depends on the year and model of your truck. Including that information will help others to help you better.

Dutch,

It is a ML 320; '00.

I will pick up a good silicone paste. The roof is opening but it is dragging
pretty bad.

Thanks for the info.

I think Phil can probably get you the proper MB stuff in small quantities. It's not cheap.

Backlight

You didn't indicate your year and model but for mine, simply pull the knob straight off and the tiny bulb is right there for you to replace.

Which knob should I pull ??

Yu Crew,

My ML is '00. The lights that are out are the little 1/4 to 1/2" marker
lights next to each air vent. Since they all went out at the same time,
I assume there is 1 bulb feeding all or maybe there is a problem with the
source of power feeding that row of lights.

As far as pulling a knob, the only knobs I have are for the fan
speed & directional option, feet, chest etc.

Are you saying pull these knobs, or pull the actual vents themselves ??

Please let me know.

Lights

For the '99 ML, the vents do not have lights (at least not that I know of on my ML430).

On mine, yes, you pull the directional airflow knob straight off and the bulb is right there.

(I doubt this single bulb "feeds" the vent markers).

Good luck.

I have an 00' ML 320 and there are no lights at the air vents - the indicators are painted onto the plastic.

I just replaced my side vent bulb and the bulb behind the fan control knob. If you haven't got the wires unplugged from the vent yet, get a pair of needle nose pliers and bite down on the little piece of plastic where the wires enter the vent housing.
