Replace Inner Tie Rod on ML320 2002
I have a bad left outer tie rod that is rusted onto the inner. I've tried heat and PB Blaster already. I've got the outer and inner tie rod parts. I was just wondering if there is anything tricky to removing the inner tie rod (I have the MB tech info) since I'll probably cut off the outer. Can I use a inner tie rod tool to remove it or do I really need to get underneath the vehicle to remove the inner?

Update
Rented an inner tie rod tool from NAPA for $ 5. Cut both outer tie rods off with my grinder and removed the inner rods with the universal tie rod tool. About 20 minutes on each wheel. $ 17 in tools and just over a $100 in parts.

The inner tie rod is covered by the boot and should not be hard to remove. I bought 2 large pipe wrench and was able to turn the inner tie rod easily. I hope you bought the genuine MB tie rod ends or the equivalent made by Meyle. The cheapo parts that were made in China, have the lousiest rubber boot that will crack in less than a year. The original MB part has excellent quality rubber boot that does not crack in >7 years.
