How many liters required for an ATF change?
My vehicle is a 199 ML 430:
I plan to change the fluid in the torque converter and transmission. I have an early series VIN# for a ML 430 and there are two rubber "covers" in the bottom of the torque converter. I am thinking one of the two will reveal the converter drain plug. I think later torque converters do not have a drain plug. The owner's manual says total capacity is 9.9 U.S. quarts. What is a typical quantity required for a drain/refill? In my experience, fluid changes typically never remove all old fluids. I plan to use MBZ fluid and I'm trying to avoid buying more than I will actually need. Thank you very much

Only a "few" 1999 ML's had TC drain plugs..if yours does then 8L of fluid should do the job!
Hold that Tiger!
