1999 ML430 Key Programming

Hello all I'm new to the forum, lost the last key to the ML430 (don't ask) Star mts dealer in Ottawa Canada tells me all tracks are used up they have to replace two modules I believe AAM and DAS and all the door locks.
They want $4,200 I have been online a bit and some people claim they can delete tracks and add new keys, any and all thoughts are app.

Rob

A few years ago I had a client with an identical issue. Unfortunately, we ended up having to replace the AAM (All Activity Module), ME-SFI (engine management module), and the entire vehicle lock set. According to MBUSA, there were no other options. The owner had recently bought the vehicle (an ML) from a used car dealer, who only supplied one key. When that key failed they came to my dealership to order a replacement. That's when the nightmare began. They had to spend a few thousand dollars so that the car could be driven! After we made the repairs, they promptly sold the car to the first person who made an offer. They didn't want any more surprises. Welcome to the wonderful world of MB!!!

Hey Rob, I'd recommend calling MB's Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-FOR-MERCEDES. Ask if they can find out for certain that all the keys for your vehicle have been used. Also inquire whether or not a solution to this problem has been considered. I'm sure you're not the only person who has been in this situation. MB is pretty good about looking into problems if enough people complain. Let us know what happens.

1999 ml430 Key Programming

Thanks ILUVMLS, I did speak to Merc. Canada they gave me the dates the keys were programmed. But no help other than $4,200 to fix.
It is not a daily driver so I will keep looking.

Thanks again

Beckmann technologies in Durham can re-chip that truck(computer & keys) for about $2,000 US

According to my information, locksets did not need to be changed. Only the AAM and the existing keys were reprogrammed into the new one. That's strange, indeed. $4200??

Makes a difference what year it is, the earlier ones, they had to do the AAM AND the engine control module, PLUS limited to 8 keys. Not sure on blades, I think MB wanted the truck rekeyed at that point also. Physically the blades could be swapped onto new remotes. In practice it's kind of a pita to do that.
Later, (about 01 I think?) they have an AAM with a DAS module which gave the possiblity of 24 keys (8 keys, plus two replacements = 24).
