I can offer a couple insights as to the Gs capabilities. We had a group of three Gs do the Moab Rim Trail in Moab UT this fall, two G500s and my G320. All three wore stock sized tires and had no modifications. I would be extremely surprised if there was another vehicle capable of completeing the trail stock, one you would be willing to drive daily anyway. After completeing the trail we paused in the parking area for a few pics. A gal drove up and asked if we had done the trail, she was amazed. Turns out that she drives Hummers for the off road tour company in town. She told us they would not let the Hummers up that trail, too difficult and the Hummer is too wide. She also shared with us that the Hummers routinely shed parts and need constant attention with loc-tite. The only other vehicles attempting the trail were heavily modified Jeeps, Land Cruisers and the like. You would have to see it to believe it. So the G is a very comfortable practical everyday vehicle that also doubles as one mean off road machine.

Consider that if you intend to attempt the more difficult(and rewarding) trails you will need at least a rear diff lock and some lift. The outstanding design of the G precludes the need to change anything. So maybe you dont need as good an off-roader as the G, depends on your goals, but it sure is cool!
