Flashing triangle/groaning brake : Help!

My vehicle is a MY2000 ML320.

Does this situation sound familiar in anyone's experience? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

!. Coming to a stop, groaning sound (like the ABS pump?) with flashing
yellow triangle. No other of the warning lights in the lower instruments
come on.
2. Onpressing the accelerator. the triangle flashes and the engine bogs
down a second, then accelerates and the triangle goes out. No other
indicator lights.

If you have any thoughts, please send them along.

I am currently having the same problem on my 1999 ML430. Dealer told me that I needed to replace the Yaw Rate Sensor first, then if that didn't work, the Lateral Accelerometer and if that didn't work the Speed Sensor. They had to be replaced in that order because it would ultimately solve the problem. Total price on these "fixes" came to around $2000 with parts and labor!

Needless to say, that was not an option. I replaced the Yaw Sensor myself with one I found online. Yaw rate sensor is located in the tunnel underneath your window switches. It is a simple plug 'n play. Symptoms went away for a day or two then began again, just not as frequent.

I recently found out that MB has replaced the yaw sensor I installed with a newer version, so I will try that before I move on to the other two sensors.

Other than reading codes, it is just a guessing game. Sounds like some dealers even GUESS after they read codes!!

1) ARE all 4 tires exactly the same?

2) Does that happen every time?

In my case DOC, all the tires were the same.

When the problem first started it was guaranteed to happen at least twice daily. After I switched the sensor it only happens maybe once a week. The power doesn't cut out every time like it used to, and all three of my first lights (ETS, ABS and BAS/ESP) come on sometime while driving after the pulsing happens. Sometimes they reset after the vehicle has been sitting off, sometimes they don't.

When I initially took it to the dealer for diagnosis, they did pull some codes for the Lateral Accel Sensor, the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor and a stored code for the Yaw Sensor. They pulled these codes from somewhere under the hood on the left side of the engine I believe.

I have had trouble locating the Left front wheel speed sensor and the Lateral Accel Sensor. Like I said in previous post, I will replace the old Yaw sensor with the new version one first before I move on to the other two.

Mechanic says that while standing still in the ground, all wheel speed sensors except the left front indicate that the truck is moving between 15 and 100 mph. Hmm.

If you can get a code like C1000 or C1200 & post that code, it would HELP.

Follow-up

After testing ABS sensors, rear left sensor had no output. Wheel sensor was replaced and problem seems solved. Thanks to all for your interest.
