ML320 engine dies and fuse blows
Started vehicle drove ~50ft, the engine dies and won't start anymore. Checked the battery grounds etc.. power is good, battery holding volts, inside compartment electronics work as usual, lights, etc.. checked positive cable to firewall, no corrosion. I did find that the #22 fuse was blown. After replacing the fuse, the vehicle starts right up, no problem, and will stay running indefinitely. However, when you put the car in gear and begin to drive forward ~100ft the fuse will blow and the vehicle engine dies. Had it towed to an exclusive Mercedes shop, and after 15 hours of troubleshooting, they don't know why this is happening. Mechanic says he needs a special software to diagnose the problem which cost him 900.00 and since he has never seen this problem before, he doesn't feel he should invest the money in the software. Suggest I tow it to the dealer. Well, vehicle towed to dealer, they've had it for two days now. Has anyone had a similar problem with there ML. I usually can repair most of my vehicles, but, I am stumped with this one.

Sounds like a short in the wiring going into any one of the computers connected to a
crimp connector Z51/5. At dealer I would go to that connector and install in-line fuse holders to each of the consumers connected to that connector & then see what is causing the problem.
