Hello everyone....Well, I just bought my second Mercedes, a 1998 ML320. But, I have noticed that the transmission seems to slip when it goes from 2nd to 3rd gear, or when it kicks down from 4th to 3rd under heavy acceleration. It does not happen all the time, and the rest of the gears shift flawlessly. Is there something I can check to see if it might be a minor problem? I had a similar problem with the C220, where the car would jerk into the next gear, and it turned out to be a vacuum hose that had a leak. Please, if anyone can help, let me know.
Thanks.

Your C220 had mechanical/hydraulic control. The ML has an electronically controlled trans. Even checking the fluid is considered a shop job.
I would have the fluid checked though. Since the electronics adapt shift pressures to accomodate wear (TO A POINT), there is very little that can be done externally. The amount of adaptation that is at hand can be read with a good scanner and can pinpoint a problem.
