Another balance shaft issue...

Took our R350 in for CEL service only to find out we have the 1200 and 1208 codes (balance shaft issue).

I'd like to say MBUSA is stepping up to the plate, but after we passed our 100K mile extended warranty on our R350, they said they would not help. Our car was a CPO bought in 07 with 16k miles. Some service by the dealer, but most done by a closer to home indy (which MBSUA mentioned) and two oil changes by myself.

So now we have a $9,000 repair bill to fix the known issue of the balance shaft and replace the intake manifold.

MBUSA sucks.

If you'd been going to the stealer all along, you might get a little something from them now, but you'd have spent a lot more along the way.

Why not have an indie do this work, too? Might be half that much.

Good luck.

Only a few places here in Charleston SC work on MB's. Two of them don't do the balance shaft work and I'm calling the other two tomorrow.

I could do it all, but just don't have the time.

The problem isn't with MBUSA, the issue is with MB.

There are several shops in Charleston that should be capable of that job.
The balance shaft replacement should be more like $3500-4000, and the intake is
about $1500 installed.

Black Forest and Star Motors don't do it. I'm calling Gordon at Autometrics and Troy at European Road and Racing. After that, I can't think of anyone.

Thanks mbdoc. PM sent.

German Auto? Haven't heard that one. I'll look into it.

Autometrics was a bust and Troy is going to get back with me.

German Auto says $3600 for the balance shaft. Not sure about their quality, but I'm thinking we are going to dump it asapor just trade it as is. Didn't ask about the intake, as I plan on doing that myself.

Got a VM from European Road and Race that I need to call back tomorrow.

Thanks for the ideas.
