Code Reader for 2002 Mercedes ML 320 What Works

Hello Any Suggestions for a Code Reader for a 2002 Mercedes ML 320
For My 2002 Mercedes ML 320

I want to Buy a Low cost "if possible Code Reader" that Reads and Can Reset The Codes after I make the repairs: (or have them done )
Any suggestions appreciated > Brand Names / Links Etc / $ Cost

( I Have some Issues and need to read what codes their are stored Etc.)
Upon repairs I need to Reset these Codes

The Star Dealer Tool at the dealer is more that I can afford .
I Hope to Buy a Good Code Reader < Online ASAP >

The Codes will Help find the exact Issues

( My OBD Reader does not show or reset such was discontinued in 2012 )
So time to update

Thank You all any good information Appreciated greatly

( I expect online is best but what I see so far seems the wrong Ones ? )

I bought an ELM327 and I use the iPhone app car scanner. This is likely the cheapest way to get codes and limited data. I diagnosed a cylinder misfire (dirty coil connector) in a few minutes with this thing. Then I was able to clear the trouble codes. I acquired the unit at a Chinese import website for $2 including shipping. Not sure how much it can be had for now given the current import duties. Maybe $5.

I was originally thinking of a Star C3 system but it was a little out of my budget range. Also I’m running out of room in my garage. No room for more tools.

I also wanted to see if this low dollar option was workable. It is cheap and does the bare minimum. Read codes. Check monitors. Get some limited data like temps, O2 voltage, rpm, etc.
