Trip Computer retrofit
Gilly;
When I bought my ML, it didn't have the option package which included the trip computer. Subsequent investigation indicates that this is a plug 'n play retrofit with the only mod required being a cut in the smoked plastic window to allow the trip computer readout to be seen. Do you have pricing on the following parts: Trip Computer Part Name: Trip C 116 Part #: 163-540-64-11 Any thoughts on doing an installation like this? Thanks, Elmer |

I believe I've had a question like this before. I don't believe any cutting is neccesary, i may be wrong. It may also depend on what year it is. On the earlier ones there was still the LCD screen which would show "On" or "OFF" depending on if the anti tow sensor was turned off or not. On these I believe the trip computer will drop in to the same position. Starting in 2000 i think you may be correct, although good luck trying to just cut out a window for the LCD screen and having it look decent.
On the more important question on if it will work, it's rare to have to remove the non-trip computer version, so I can't swear that the wiring is there or not. I would run the part number you need through Phil at Fastlane. Gilly
