Ml320 BAS/ESP

Resently, I had some major dramas with an BAS/ESP warning light coming on. Brake light switch and repeat attempts to reset the system by way of turning the steering wheel lock to lock did not help. The successful remedy was to replace the entire steering column assembly. Looking at the old column & the steering angle sensor (being at fault) attached to it i decided to take it off and inspect it for the usual solder & or contact problem.
No luck, the sensor looks as cheap as a hand held Japanese radio; the only diff being the cost!! There is indeed, a Bosch No
on the sensor & it is fitted with three screws but guess what, Mercedes will flog you the whole steering column at a $ 1000 plus. Question, has anyone had any luck in repairing & or buying a steering angle sensor ???

Regards Tony
