Question for Gilly re: crankshaft pulley on ML55

I'm looking at a used 55 (to replace my totalled 430)that is still under warranty.

It recently had the crankshaft pulley and crankshaft seal replaced due to a small leak.

Any long term ramifications or is this somewhat routine?

Thanks,

Pete

No, no lasting problems I know of. There have been some spotty problems with the harmonic balancer coming apart, i assume this is what happened. The seal may have been damaged by the balancer coming apart, so replacement of the seal was probably incidental.

Sounds as if there may be somewhat of a silver lining to the terrible accident with the 430. Hope you post pix!

Yes there is. It's strange how things work out sometimes.-

39k miles (55) vs. 77k miles (totaled 430), paint that hasn't been worked over by by manzanita (yet), a 40% reduction in monthly payments, and a big chunk of change in my pocket after paying off the loan on the 430.

Now I just have to try to collect my $1k deductable from the dipsquat that hit my wife since he lied to the cops and in actuality he didn't have any insurance.
