overall option of ML series
I currently have a 2001 C320. I am considering a ML series as well. Have not checked one out yet or done any research. This is my first inquire. Please give me pluses and minus. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Instead of hand-feeding you info, I would recommend checking them out and doing some research. Here are a few links for you though:
http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container.jsp?/models/class_overview.jsp&modelCode=ml_class_main http://pw1.netcom.com/~klazys/CARPAGE2.html http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/comparison/articles/43903/page010.html http://www.intellichoice.com/reports/vehicleReport.cfm/section/reviews/vhcl_nmb/9361 Use your web browser and feel free to look at the posts here in the ML forum. Go to the dealer, pick up some literature, and they'll probably be more than happy to go out on a road test with you. Buy the newest one you can afford. Try both a V6 and V8 version, the power difference is significant. Gilly

Great Car....
I looked at other SUVS and the ML was the best choice for me, but I have to admit there are alot of problems with this car... and mercedes parts don't come cheap... Alot of other people on the forum have similar problems.. I believe my ML has 5X the problems my honda accord ever had.. and the ML cost twice as much as the accord =( But if you have money to spend, and if you know some mechanical things like me, its a sweet ride after some mods, like the new headlights, amg grill, xenon, etc... here is a pic of my car.. I'd pick the ML over my Z3 anyday.. expect the high cost in maintenance, and gas cuz it eats alot.

From what I've read and after owning one. Don't buy anything earlier than 2000. We've had no problems at all with our 2000 model. I just keep seeing post after post about the 98's being a problem though.

yes, I installed the xenon system on my car myself....
Its actually very simple how the xenons work, they use your regular 12 volts, and there are ballasts (kinda of like transformers) that give a boost of power to your xenon bulbs (a bulb costs like $200), I had to change my fuse from 7.5 to 15 because of the ballasts. I love my xenon lights, they will last me a lifetime of the car, and it makes driving at night or when it rains with ease. if he can afford the 2003 ml350 I recommend that because alot of the bugs are fixed out from the older models.
