goofy cold power locks!!
Its been real cold in the midlantic states and Iam having a strange problems with my locks. After leaving the vehicle and locking them with the remote, they"click" all reopen and immediately "click " again and relock. It seems to be weather related . Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have a clue as to the cause and correction for the condition

It used to be more common than it is now, seems most have been fixed already. The problem is a microswitch inside one of the door latch assemblies. A fault code search by a shop will show which one is at fault. An improved latch assembly fixes it.

lock / unlock
I had the same problem on a 99 ML, they changed the lock on that door then every door twice. There was a bulletin that said the spring was too strong for the lock and it go up again. The problem as it turns out was the tailgate lock would not pull althe way and it would try to relock. My dealership was able to read the error code, but ignorded it since they claim a lot of the MLs had the error code. The shop forman finally disconnected the taigate lock and the could duplicate the problem. They tell me that just enlaging the mounting hole for the screw slightly provided the neccessary clearance, and solved the problem. If your dealer does not believe you have them call Mercdedes of Palm Beach, and ask for Gus (the shop assistant service manager) It is definately a microswitch not closing long enugh.
This is not the problem where the lock goes up and down a few times, which required a lock with a green paint dot I think. Tell them to look for error codes. I owned this truck 12 months and glad to get rid of. fuel pumps are the next issue |
