Speaker wiring
This weekend I plan on replacing the factory speakers in my 1998 ML320. With the factory wiring, does anyone know which wire is the positive and which is the negative? Thanks.

Front Speakers = 6 ½ Rear Speakers = 5 ¼ may I ask what speakers are you putting in? I find my ML320 stock speakers are very good .. . sorry I don't have the wiring diagrams for the speaker.. but I believe they work both ways. are you going to remove the door panels? can you write some diy instructions for us? thanks! stereo install & door panels
These two links from Ken Yee's site are very helpful for installing the stereo.
This link is for how to remove door panel: http://www.keysolutions.com/M-Class.nsf/8178b1c14b1e9b6b8525624f0062fe9f/5fc50749622a00f48525665f000b0f5f Good instruction for the stereo install http://www.keysolutions.com/M-Class.nsf/8178b1c14b1e9b6b8525624f0062fe9f/ad96201628ab6ea685256921000856f8 Positive and negative terminals ought to be written on the speaker terminals when you remove the wire. Just look before you take off the 2 wires. |

Typically, the positive lead will have a white stripe on the insulation. The positive terminal on the speaker will have a red or white "dot" painted near it.
I haven't pulled the speakers out yet, but for ease, some manufacturers make the positive terminal spades larger than the negative ones..makes for a "no-fuss" install.
