My euro bi-xenon retrofit experience on a 00' ML320

In short, it's harder than I expected.

Just installed a pair of euro spec bi-xenon on my 00' ML320 today. I also bought a pair of pigtail adapters from PP for this job. In my case, only the low beam work with the pigtail adapter. This pigtail adapter does not connect the hi-beam power correctly. I have to rearrange the hi-beam wire on the pigtail and to solder a ground jumper wire inside the headlight housing to make the xenon high beam and halogen high beam working. On this Euro bi-xenon, it uses seperate ground for low beam and high-beam. Is it a problem for euro spec only? The PP adapter only provide three connection. High-beam, Low-beam, and ground(only work for low-beam). If I have the crimping pin used in the connector, I would connect parking light to the daylight driving light also. This connector is made by Delphi, I will probably get some pins from later to complete this job. For now, I will have working hi-low beams and the halogen high beam. This pair of euro-spec bi-xenons are used, so I don't what year they are.

Any other issue, I had a hard time reinstalling the plastic clip holding the filler panel to the body. I gave up. The panel seems to be very secure even without the clip.

It seems to be a very straight forward retro for other people here. It takes 3 times longer than I expected to finish this job. Do the euro spec and US spec. have different wiring?

Here's the wiring arrangment I figured out on my car's headlight connector.

Looking at the plug with the latch on top.

1 - Ground
2 - Parking light
3 - Hi beam
4 - Fog light (if you have yours enabled by dealer)
5 - not sure
6 - not sure
7 - Low beam

Just like to share this info.

It sounds like it may not be a bi-xenon at all by your description. With bi-xenon, the xenon bulb is both the high and low beam, it uses a small shield which redirects the beam to create the high and low beam with the same bulb. The halogen bulb is just there to use the "flash" system when the xenon bulb is not operating, as you can't make the xenon bulb come up to full brightness quick enough to do a "flash" operation (ie pulling back on the turn signal lever to "flash" your brights at someone. If you do a "flash" when the xenons ARE on I believe it may use the xenon then, just uses the halogen if the xenons are off).

It's bi-xenon

It's bi-xenon. When I mean hi beam HID does not work. I mean the shutter. I guess I got the wrong adapter from PP. I did tell PP I want an adaper for a euro spec. bi-xenon. Damn PP!

how do you adjust the headlight vertically?

Is it the only way through the two mountings at the bottom of the light?

Thanks!
