G55---Is it a sleeper??

I have noticed that there is a high performance version of the G-wagen called the G55. The G55 looks like a sleeper, Is it a sleeper or is it just asleep??

A sleeper is a high performance(or modified) car that looks plain, stock, regular, bare etc. But when you race it, it leaves you in the dust. The 500e is a sleeper. Hence the name "sleeper"

I drove a G500 and a G55 both for a week back to back.
The G55 is pretty dern fast for such a brick of a truck.
Stoplight dragraces are really cool as I dispatched a few Mustang
GT's and other random "furious / fast " type autos.
The look on the face of a 16 y.o. kid in a Camaro getting smoked by 6000lb Austrian Military Vehicle is priceless.
sadly, you need a kidney belt to drive these things and they get
GPM not MPG. I averaged around 9 driving like normal.
Sleeper is a good term, however the burly exhaust is a bit of a giveaway.

Pulled alongside one of them on the way to work this morning...

...I agree that the chrome brush guards are a bit of an overkill...especially the parking lights! They look like the light guards you see in basketball gymnasiums!

Those dual side pipes are a dead giveaway, that "this is not your Daddy's G"...

If you really wanted a sleeper, the hot ticket would be to buy a lightly used G500 and have a Kleemann supercharger installed. The G55 would be history against that leviathan, so would most cars on the road
