Well, have a good trip down. For the folks in the midwest, let's hope it won't drop down to -30 this winter...

Just had my ML power steering clamp replaced (yesterday) under warranty and now they replace the hose, too.
Paul, you were correct! I had a second look at my service invoice, and it does actually say they replaced the "lower power steering hose as per instructions for recall 200304005".

Just did it couple of days ago. Indeed the dealer replaced the clamp and the hose. There is a sticker on the hose indicating 2003040005. The screw on the clamp looks like over-tighten by the dealer, we'll see how long it can hold.

I had my power steering hose clamp replaced due to it failing at about 30,000 miles on my 2000 ML320. Then they replaced the clamp under the recall when the recall was announced. Today it blew off again when I was backing down the driveway. To fix it again, is all I have to do is reattach the hose and clamp and tighten it again, then adding power sterring fluid? I can see where it backed off the radiator stem. Now I got a nice mess on the concrete driveway.

Is there any special power steering fluid I should use. Should I replace the clamp at all?

Would it do any good to report it to NHTSA since it was already recalled once for this.

Clayton

Is a second required repair still covered by the recall even though it was "fixed" under the recall at one time?

Yes, I recieved a letter from Mercedes indicating that the repair is covered for 10 years.
